Therapist
Leigh Skal, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping adolescents and young adults navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resiliency. Leigh has over 20 years of experience within the social work field, including 10 years in a variety of school settings. Leigh specializes in working with teens and young adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, and the ever-complicated world of relationships—whether that’s with friends, family, or themselves.
Using a strengths-based approach, Leigh helps clients recognize what is already working for them while building new skills to manage emotions, improve communication, and shift unhelpful thought patterns. Leigh primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we work on reframing perspectives, building self-awareness, and developing practical strategies for tackling everyday challenges.
A big part of Leigh’s work is relationship-building and creating a space where clients feel safe, seen, and supported. I believe therapy should not have to feel like a chore; it can be a collaborative and insightful experience. Using humor, empathy, and a down-to-earth approach to make the process feel approachable and meaningful.
Ultimately, the goal is to help young people see their own strengths, develop new perspectives, and gain the confidence to take on whatever life throws their way. She received her Bachelors and Master of Social Work from Wheelock College/ Boston University.
